RETHINKING ACCESS AND QUALITY IN TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

The relationship between Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and sustainable development (SD) has created mutual understanding in acknowledging the fact that both are basic requirement for nation’s growth and development. Various policies and programmes was promulgated in the past to reformed TVET towards addressing social, economic, physical or environmental problems in Nigeria and to achieve it desire goal. This paper focuses on the concept of sustainable development, relationship between TVET and sustainable development, relevance of TVET and challenges associated with it accessibility in Nigeria. Therefore, conclude that, there is inadequacies in organisation framework and lack of feedback mechanism in policies and programs formulated, this affected the purpose of TVET, whereby, requires intervention from all stakeholders to provide sustainable solution in order to achieve the goal of TVET in Nigeria.
